If (when) Darnold does Sam things tonight, GB fans will be haunted by the ghost of playoff chokes and realize that even with the Parsons/Kraft injuries, they should have been competing for a SB slot on the field this weekend. Alas poor LeFleur. I knew him well. Good coordinator. Less so good coach.

This moron shot him while his comrades were mobbing him thus putting their lives at risk. Then they opened up on his body when he was clearly incapacitated by the first volley and put observer’s lives at risk. Not just depraved but completely incompetent.

MLF wanting a DC with previous head coaching experience says a lot more to me about his drive and desire regarding the leadership aspect of coaching than anything else associated with this hire. I’d prefer a coach who wants to lead his ENTIRE team and not delegate more than half of it.

So it’s not surprising to see them concerned with the financials. Their primary concern is to ensure the team survives for as long as the NFL exists…championships are secondary. Fans can disagree but most of them didn’t live through the disastrous 70-80s years. It is understandable.

Silverstein’s source is probably MLF’s agent (so grain of salt) but “mom and pop” organization comment is reflective of how GB was run in 70s-80s prior to Ron Wolf. I grew up with games blacked out. There was no waiting list for tickets. Financials were bad. Board was and is scarred by those years.

Once they didn’t remove him or announce that he’ll coach on his last contract year, they gave up all leverage in negotiations though. They will give him 5 years to save face. Or watch him take a college job and be way behind the 8 ball.

It’s an official acknowledgment that the actions in Venezuela can be argued (persuasively) to have violated international law and an attempt to keep the money from being seized by the international community. This is the better and more damning take.

Nixon is not a prototypical outside CB from a physical perspective. So move him outside and bring in Hobbs (another slot CB) to also play outside. It’s like they try to zig and use players in ways that 90% of the rest of the league would not do to get an advantage. And the result is our CB room.

Jordon Morgan repped-guard for 1.5 years. Belton repped at tackle this year before sanity struck and moved to guard. Maybe both are eventual busts but to spend that much time and energy playing them out of position is a…choice. Just a microcosm of the weird decisions consistently made.

The goal isn’t to win championships-that would cost money. The goal is to keep the Packers gravy train moving while spending the least amount of money to maximize profit. Dan Campbell has a bigger coaching tree in 4 years than MLF has in 7.

The goal isn’t to win championships-that would cost money. The goal is to keep the gravy train moving while spending the least amount to maximize profit. 9-7-1 and the playoffs is the perfect sweet spot. Things won’t change until they lose enough of the fan base to change up the profit calculation.
