I don't think it was even a steam issue by itself, just Fedora's utterly anemic codec library and it's not even directly their fault lol

Just happened to find @redstrate.com's post on this here and that spared me a longer headache which i put off fixing by just using OBS to record my stuff so THANK YOU lmao redstrate.com/blog/2025/01...

Just happened to find @redstrate.com's post on this here and that spared me a longer headache which i put off fixing by just using OBS to record my stuff so THANK YOU lmao redstrate.com/blog/2025/01...
My steam background recordings were nigh impossible to clip or export because it kept failing. Only times I was able to export something was to send to another device, but anything related to local export failed.
And here I thought i was done with this after fixing my ffmpeg install
