And they’re tasty (horses, don’t know about fingers)

I’ve met many good friends, including the bestest spouse @dreadships.bsky.social online, but that was before social media were called that.

Has anything great happened in your life because of social media?

Sorry, I understand your gripe (as someone who uses every day what she learned in her useless humanities degree that she dropped out of) - my comment was mainly inspired by the impact PPE Oxford grads in our government have done to us

If you’re aware of that equation though you can build in that piece of toast into your allowance when you had your run or leave it when you hadn’t. I tend to not to add exercise calories to my TDEE, but keep an eye on that I at least hit my minimum level of exercise

CW: weight loss dieting numbers

I’ve lost roughly 25kg since 30 April on a medically monitored very low calorie diet (800kcal shakes and soups for 12 weeks). Vast majority of loss is the massive deficit, but walking >10k daily surely helps especially now that I’m back on normal food

The level of exercise needed to compensate for a too high caloric intake is definitely not achievable for most, especially if they already carry too much weight. But it shouldn’t be underestimated how much difference gentle daily movement makes. It’s a case of bothisgood.gif

I’ve dropped out halfway through a history and English language and literature degree and feel superior to PPE graduates

However horses are nice but still taste great.

When you could code silly quizzes on Facebook, it was FULL of "what would you be in medieval times?!" etc.

I made one that nearly always answered "died as a child", "died in childbirth", "lived and died as a servant"

People got SUPER mad with it.

Everyone assumes they'll be at the top of the tree

The subtext of ‘we should be more like Dubai’, beyond the obvious racism, is ‘I should have a servant’.

And don’t get me started on prescribing bad apps for weight management which only work if the patient is working very hard under their own steam because an ai generated check in every other week really is not it.
scornflakegrrrl.bsky.social
Especially when prescriptions are gatekept so tightly that people have no choice but to go private.

I used to be a bit anti when there were shortages for prescriptions to diabetics because of them being bought privately for weight loss but I’ve got a grip since. I still hate the aggressive marketing though

It’s not like they remove the need to change your food habits, they just support doing it. I think a lot of the judginess is because it’s perceived to be cheating, when it’s no more cheating than taking any other medication

Clearing my parents house was fun in that respect. My dad turned into a magpie when near any ammo. All (well most) stored responsibly in locked steel cabinets. But definitely not for him to own

Think my first action as benevolent dictator would be to shut down PPE courses, initially in Oxford but then countrywide
scornflakegrrrl.bsky.social
This will be stuck in my head to the rest of the week so it’s only fair to share
