This is supposedly the cave in which Aṅgulimāla stayed. Aṅgulimāla is the legendary person in Buddhism who was reformed from a murdered to a peaceful monk. See en.wikipedia.org/wiki/A%E1%B9...

There are little gems of light in the midst of the decay. Off to visit a temple with a relic of the Buddha later today.

I have no idea what's going on here. This is right outside the Buddhist temple I visited today.

That first photo is typical of the decay. People are trickling in for the Zen Buddhist pilgrimage. I'm picking up my teacher at the airport tonight.

I figured I'd better hit up McDonald's before the rest of my Zen Buddhist friends show up. They're probably mortified that I ate here. But hey, it's vegetarian!

When discussing community, Ānanda, the Buddha's attendant, once said to the Buddha:

"Half of the holy life is good friendship"

The Buddha rebuked Ānanda, responding:

"Do not say such a thing Ānanda. Good friendship is not half the holy life, it is *all* of the holy life"
