I blessed a semi truck once. We got a delivery at the church, and the drivers were excited about their new rig. Asked if I’d pray for them and their truck. So I got out the holy water and did the whole bit.

For those who said MP today, I’ve got the Acts reading illustrated here. You’re welcome. ⚓️ #RandomStainedGlassWindows

“O God, who makest us glad with the weekly remembrance of the glorious resurrection of thy Son our Lord: Grant us this day such blessing through our worship of thee, that the days to come may be spent in thy favor; through the same Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.” ⚓️

If you’re in DC, you have lots of options. If I’m there on a Sunday, I usually attend Christ Church Georgetown, but YMMV! Blessings on your discerning and your journey.

Also not licit in the Episcopal Church

And, fwiw, in an era when there are many Caesars demanding our worship, I’m not sure why people are so against “Lord,” which was a central Christian credo of resistance in the early centuries of the church. So maybe it’s not the time to toss out “Lord”?

You are not missing anything. In editing the liturgy without authorization, your rector is making a significant and unwarranted theological shift. Giving them the benefit of the doubt, maybe they don’t know about “God be with you” as our settled, authorized alternative.

I use that for search. Will give the browser a try. Thanks!

Well, great. Here I am using Chrome instead of Safari, because (ironically) there's no way to block those stupid "sign in with Google" popups on Safari, but there is on Chrome.

My kingdom for a privacy-friendly, standards-compliant browser that also lets me block some ads and intrusive content.

Notice how Congress members become constitutional literalists when it comes to getting their paychecks during a shutdown, but not when it comes to well regulated militias or the freedoms of speech or press.

Lamb judging — does it look like the Paschal Lamb?

Carved butter in the shape of saints.

Church + country fair = awesomeness

I mean, there’s no rule that says we have to use “candle poles”

The question is: would fire jugglers lead to church growth? 🔥

Let's just make this whole day about St Michael. Everything else is on hold.

Saw this beautiful creature on my evening walk. So sorry that it’s stuck in the middle of a city.

A few weeks ago, I was sitting in my stall when the thought entered my mind as I looked around the chancel and nave during Sunday worship: “What if no one was getting paid to be here? How would that change this church?”

(Yes, I suffered from “wanderings of mind” despite my pre-worship prayer)

Endowments to start. Buildings that are sometimes more idols than temples in my observation (and many of which are used fully for only 90 minutes a week). A general attachment to things.

And I include myself in this. I have plenty of nice church things.

“Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust consume and where thieves break in and steal, but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust consumes and where thieves do not break in and steal.”

Much to ponder here for the Episcopal Church. ⚓️

I’m old enough to remember back when the USA had three branches of government who each served as a check & balance on the others.
