Trump might be making sense to his MAGA base with this, but I suspect that our generals have thought much more about what happened in Vietnam and in Afghanistan than Trump has, and they know that it wasn't something so silly. These are serious issues and Trump just talks for effect.

What laws are we supposed to imagine that these thugs are required to follow? Who enforces laws on them? We can see that they are quite eager to inflict great injury without provocation and don't care about cameras catching them, so they are in fact lawless. This is what "unleashed" means.

I'm pretty sure that laws don't come into existence through executive orders and I'm pretty sure that every member of congress knows this. And yet, none of the GOP has the courage to mention this. Our system of checks and balances is now a system of genuflections and nods.
