Meanwhile in Dumfries, the former Regal/Odeon (most recently a single screen in the former balcony area, with a bingo hall in the former stalls) is rumoured to be reopening with an advert appearing for a cinema manager…

Interesting to pass the long closed former New Victoria / Odeon on Clerk St in Edinburgh, with the hoarding door ajar it gives a peek into the foyer… it would be nice to see this place come back to life, so hopefully a sign long delayed works are moving forward again…?

As the ABC Glasgow foyer block has been removed, we can now see the remains of the original 1875 Panorama building, extended east in 1920s for dance hall & later cinema conversion. Built up the hill, the cinema ground floor was a car park, with stalls on first floor and balcony above.

Hello BlueSky. We are a creakily old website dating back to 2001 that catalogues & celebrates Scotland’s cinema architectural story - on social media we try & share stories about what’s happening to historic cinema buildings and promote stuff happening in cool cinemas across Scotland!
