James Madison University, UNC Kenan-Flagler, and a couple of war colleges. I like duck hunting and fishing-not good at either. Would rather be in a National Park, and I miss George H.W. Bush.
They’ve been playing flag football for 25 years.

My buddy once bought me a JMU basketball t shirt he found for sale at an Embassy Suites gift shop…in Miami. This was in 2004ish.

Greg Sankey definitely needs one.

Our schedule got better by not having to play VPI.

Dude, it’s not important to the Steelers organization. It is A metric (capital hard A, as in one of multiple metrics) used by just about everyone to determine how effective any HC is. It’s not that deep.

You’re either being obtuse or I am not explaining it well enough in the limited space provided. Winning games that matter the most matters the most and…he hasn’t done that in a decade. His coaching tree (or lack thereof) is a another data point.
January 14, 2026 at 6:08 PM
The best head coaches develop future head coaches. Not because that’s what they are paid to do, but it’s a natural extension of their job. And he developed exactly zero in 19 years.
Tomlin is a good coach. But he shouldn’t be beatified.

And Pittsburgh hated Bill Cowher, too.

The yin and yang of the Tomlin Experience…

He also lost a playoff game to Tim Tebow.

A sports fan?
January 14, 2026 at 3:05 AM
He won playoff games in 4 of his 19 seasons, lost seven straight playoff games, hasn’t won a playoff game in a decade, and developed zero head coaches from his coordinators. It’s not racism, it’s results. Or lack thereof, it was time for a change.
January 13, 2026 at 11:59 PM
It was a hell of a run. But how many coordinators of his became head coaches?

Helps to be huge.

What’s a decent wage in this case? I agree with you about the scarcity of the labor in the W’s case, but an 800% increase in the salary cap?

And you’re comparing a company that measures PROFIT in the billions vs a league that has lost money since its founding.
January 10, 2026 at 4:24 PM
You mean magic in the same sense that a firm’s stock price isn’t tethered to profitability? Yes, like that.
January 10, 2026 at 10:30 AM
Up 200% from what? Is that enough to ask for 30% rev share and a cap increase that’s 8 times the size as last season’s? Higher valuations don’t equal increased cash flow.

I agree with your last sentence, but what’s a fair compromise between the owners and players in this case?
January 9, 2026 at 10:27 PM
How do franchise valuations affect revenue?

Hahahahaha

Spot on.

You’ve never met Pipo.

JMU had no chance of winning. But they were better than Alabama and Texas Tech.

My point is this: G5 teams don’t ruin the CFP. JMU losing by 17 to Oregon is not an existential threat to the sport.
January 2, 2026 at 5:39 PM
I know! I was terrified for Alabama.
January 2, 2026 at 2:55 AM
JMU had twice as points as Texas Tech did FIRST DOWNS in the first half against Oregon. JMU had almost 200 yards and multiple scoring chances j the first half. Texas Tech had 137 and none.

And ODU was far more competitive against Indiana than Alabama.
