Husband, Dad, lover of all things black and white including Mac (Collie), Alfie and Nigel (Cats) and NUFC. Operations Manager for Primary Care Services. Also a little bit particular about apostrophe use!
Once saw him score a goal at the Leazes End where I’d swear he dribbled past half of their team in the box. A small beacon of light in quite a lot of gloom.

Do it! I remember that European sojourn. I’d started going to matches in ‘73 - hooked - supported remotely from the Scottish Borders (my Nana sent me Journal clippings in the post which I stuck on my wall). Passed my driving test early in ‘78 and was excited about that season. But wasn’t to be ..

You’re safe I reckon. I have, by association (younger daughter’s boyfriend is a season ticket holder), become an interested follower of QPR who persist in calling themselves the ‘R’s’, which as call can see is a plural not requiring of an apostrophe. Slowly teaching myself to ignore it. Slowly.

I’m here all day for a bit of measured positivity! Spent quite a lot of time recently blocking nay saying doom mongers - got no time or energy for it. Also nice to come across another North of the Border, dog loving, Toon supporting ‘runner’.

An absolute gem.

That evolution in usage is a plain and clear abomination and afront to common decency and according to a friend (former Editor of national newspaper) a national disgrace but I can probably permit myself to live and live but I will still rage against it every now and then. Just wrong. 😒

If you’re in Edinburgh though - definitely a pint!
December 20, 2025 at 6:31 PM
That would be fun but I’m a remote fan - I live in West Linton just south of Edinburgh. Extended family from Northumberland - first taken to St James’ in August 1973 - lived it all - the bad - the awful - the Keegan times - and the present. Was at the Fulham match this week- my first in 22 years.

I have become a slightly more than vicarious QPR fan (I’m a lifelong NUFC fan) through my younger daughter’s season ticket holding boyfriend - have been to Loftus Road on three occasions now. But the apostrophe does me in - it’s a plural FFS! #UpTheRs No apostrophe 😊

He will.
December 20, 2025 at 4:15 PM
Loving it. But please - no apostrophe 😊
December 20, 2025 at 4:04 PM
Laughing we will be - Wissa gets fit and hits his stride - and we remember how to play with goal scoring line leader - sunlit uplands 😊

Go for it. Fanny was never wrong.
December 19, 2025 at 5:50 PM
Agreed. I have been having ‘fun’ blocking and muting the plethora of negative nay saying miseries on here. What is the point - we can acknowledge things aren’t quite where we want them to be while still looking on the positive side - much more fun. Please don’t make me mention Frank Pingel again 😊

A big chicken? We’ve done that recently when not too many of us - still get the same Christmas vibe. There are seven of us this year so have gone turkey.
December 19, 2025 at 5:30 PM
Three at the very least. It is beyond time that we turned somebody over - why not Chelsea. 😊
December 19, 2025 at 5:28 PM
I was in the Gallowgate on his derby hat trick day. Good player. We couldn’t deal either him that day!
December 14, 2025 at 8:47 AM
Anyway it’s much more fun being positive 😊
December 3, 2025 at 8:33 PM
Sorry but Frank Pingel and Rob MacDonald - my case rests - this team will improve and we will win more stuff - some may leave but others will arrive. I supported them for 51 years before they won anything - I will continue to be unashamedly positive. Any way it’s much more fun being positive #NUFC
December 3, 2025 at 6:43 PM
There are some seriously miserable bastards on here - just be thankful you didn’t have to live through the Frank Pingel and Rob MacDonald years (Google them) - this is a seriously good team - which will absolutely fly once they get going - and which will be continually improved by incoming and Eddie
December 3, 2025 at 5:52 PM
Unfortunately the reality is that this was never going to happen. Our squad has improved - hasn’t all clicked into gear for variety of reasons- Isak late departure - Wissa injury - Big Nick thrown in - full backs injuries - but there are definitely reasons to be cheerful - the bigger picture is OK.
December 3, 2025 at 5:48 PM
You did. It was the first post. However - not quite the outcome we’d hoped for
