Here’s some zoomed in elemental mapping of a couple mms I had polished a few years ago. It might be hard to read but each image is specifically picking out a certain element and the brighter the coloring in a certain area the more of that element there is.

Here’s the weathered v-type from a while ago. Last SEM image for a while then I’ll get back to color. :)

Look at all those Xmas trees, it looks like a forest!

Another I-type for the collection. This one has a somewhat large Iridium/platinum bead. Hard to imagine just a few years ago I thought I would never find any of these and now I have over a dozen.

Here’s another one of the mms I brought into SEM. Looks like there used to be a bead on the little bridge area but it has since disappeared :)

Back at the lab again… finally. What a great group of humans that work at Macalester college. I learned so much today! More cool mms to come next week. Until then.. happy thanksgiving!

I need to post more here. But for now I will make it up by sharing a photo of some micrometeorites that have been polished on both ends thin enough to allow light to pass through. :)
