I think about key art way too much so I am super into this. skate will be hard to beat but I'd nominate PEAK - simple and so clearly communicates the vibe and gameplay.

Very dependent on what you mean by "best" though. Perhaps best for marketing, but less so as a poster I'd hang on my wall.

Despite rough edges and some balance issues, JAWS is amongst my favorite licensed games. A "1 vs all" game of hidden movement makes both sides feel both omnipotent and woefully underequipped. Great way to celebrate the movie's 50th anniversary (5/5)

WATERGATE remains my favorite two player "wargame" that takes an hour or less. Your units are facts and lies, journalists and political operatives. You have to choose where to be strong and where to only project the image of strength, hoping to outthink your opponent. (4/5)

I finally found a group that loves IMPERIUS nearly as much as I do. An underrated gem, it's a drafting game where you're as likely to play your foes' cards as your own. Leans into kingmaking for some wild swingy come-from-behind plots. (3/5)

HANAMIKOJI is such a gem and one of my few 10/10 games - dead simple to teach with such agonizing decisions. It's a game of giving your opponent their choice of gifts, trying to give them the worst tradeoffs possible. So much depth in so few rules. (2/5)

After watching the British Open this past weekend I really want to play a golf game but unfortunately PGA Tour 2K25 is haunted

PIXEL P.I. is a very different spin on mystery games. While I definitely hope it gets refined before release (so much extraneous dialogue!), I've rarely felt more like an investigator thanks to a clever free-form deduction system. store.steampowered.com/app/3758740/...

I don't play a lot of co-op looter shooters but I really want to get a group together for JUMP SHIP when it comes out. Really well done and a great blend of space combat and off-ship shenanigans. store.steampowered.com/app/2841820/...

While COMMAND DECK is in the real early stages of development, there's some really interesting ideas taking shape in this spaceship deckbuilder. Eager to see where this goes and a great Mac port store.steampowered.com/app/3733200/...

I thought I was exhausted by games that could be pitched as "OTHER_GENRE_HERE meets roguelike!" but I was delighted by "Breakout meets roguelike" BALL x PIT. Really great frantic action and interesting build decisions store.steampowered.com/app/3651790/...

A thread of demos I've enjoyed from this Steam Next Fest. First up, CLEARED HOT - a extremely approachable spiritual successor to the old Desert Strike series, a fun blend of arcade shooting and tactical combat. store.steampowered.com/app/1710820/...

Yeah I'd return this movie too if it showed up with a cover looking like someone faxed me a still photo from the cheap DTV "The Crow" sequels

Nothing quite like the cathartic joy of decoding a very exciting note to myself that I frantically, foolishly crammed into the margin of a notepad.

It was so important that I tried to draw big square around it! (and also failed at that)

Great Steam review. 10/10 no notes

Canceled show that haunts me: "Galavant" (2 seasons on ABC, still on Hulu). Hilarious, great songs, and very interesting & unexpected character arcs. Everyone was great but Timothy Omundson deserved an Emmy

AHHHH! Netflix is reviving the classic Korean TV series Crime Scene for a fourth season with a mix of new & returning contestants! I cannot believe that I get to see the return of Jang Jin and Jang Dong-min solving mysteries

That is out of control

Just found these character sheets I made for a Spice Girls one-shot RPG that sadly never happened. Someday!

I know it's 2025 but I still crack up each time I see this on recipe blogs. NEVER CHANGE, MY FELLOW HOME COOKS!

Heya Financial Times: as a former untalented youth performer myself, the only thing to infer from unnamed roles like Mitch McConnell's role as "king" is not "this person seeks the spotlight" but "too many kids tried out so teacher made a bunch of nothing one-line parts"

The end of year approaches, so you know what that means! Just about time that I put the finishing touches on my best-of-2024 list!

I can't wait either so here you go, here is a WORLD EXCLUSIVE sneak preview of an exciting new Deku Deals feature that @andrewalerts.bsky.social is talking about.

This is definitely a final product and definitely not just some placeholder text while I'm figuring other UI stuff out.
