I know it's a visual novel, but the actual "game" part of it seems a bit thin. Fun to watch on youtube. I'm glad it exists but I wonder if it's not a sustainable model - I can basically just watch someone play it online and feel like I haven't missed much

It sounds a lot more awesome than it actually was. I "played" it for a couple months when it was still active and it felt much more like a job than a game. The starfighter combat was not skill based, it was all based on getting components that you had to grind to earn/craft.
