You think back to the dynamics of that draft year, McDavid deserved to be the #1 and he's proven he's possibly the best player of all time, or near that standard.

Meanwhile, Eichel has a Cup and makes a million dollars a year more than him. Not too shabby either.

By next spring any (or maybe all of) Frondell, Kantserov, Lardis and Boisvert may be on the Hawks, there will be a lot more top six options then.

Right now the options are more limited. Having said that, while I don't dislike either Dach or Burakovsky, I haven't loved either of them on the top line

Let's try a different analogy, if you start a video game and instead of leveling up, gaining skills, adding weapons and tools and gaining experience, if instead of all that you just skipped right ahead and tried to fight the final boss, it wouldn't go well. The steps have value.

bad thing if you've got the horses for it, but for a really young team, the growing pains might be really ugly at times. They've got the high end skill that eventually they should be playing high degree of difficulty systems, but they are currently well off that standard.

Blashill has the D pinching to keep pucks alive in the offensive zone, and he has the 3rd F high rotating over to cover their spot. Yesterday, the forwards were pretty good rotating over, but I couldn't get over how often a F was defending. It was a concern. At one point the Panthers had a 2 on 2

There's a lot to like about Foligno.

New York Islanders rookie and number one overall pick, Matthew Schaefer, said he got a phone call from Blackhawks captain Nick Foligno after making the team. Their connection goes far beyond sharing the same agent. They both lost their mothers to breast cancer at a young age. Foligno takes his mentoring seriously, and it goes beyond the Blackhawks locker room.

(RNS) — Last month, the Rev. David Black stood in front of a Chicago-area U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement facility and spread his arms wide. Adorned in all black and wearing a clerical collar, the pastor looked up at a group of masked, heavily armed ICE agents on the roof and began to pray.

“I invited them to repentance,” Black, a minister in the Presbyterian Church (USA), said in an interview. “I basically offered an altar call. I invited them to come and receive that salvation, and be part of the kingdom that is coming.”

But when Black began to lower his arms a few seconds later, the agents responded to his spiritual plea by firing pepper balls, or chemical agents that cause eye irritation and respiratory distress, video footage shows. One struck Black in the head, exploding into a puff of white pepper smoke and forcing him to his knees. Fellow demonstrators rushed to his aid, and as the pastor rubbed his face in pain, the agents continued to fire.

“We could hear them laughing,” Black said.
