A few days shy of 64 & my hair has never been as long as it is now. Not even as a kid in 1960s or teen in 70s.
Spent 20 years in the Navy & kept regulation short hair for 20+ years of retirement only to learn my wife disliked how it looked.
A lion in winter? Nah. Old man in autumn more like.

Not a lot of details, but what would most people do if an armed & masked person, perhaps with no ID, tried to pull them from their car? Seems like this was destined to happen sooner or later.
