I’m Scott: recovering journalist and aspiring late-in-life novelist currently managing a warehouse. Single dad. I contain multitudes. Passionate about dinosaurs. I try to make art sometimes. An absolute delight. He/Him/Y’all
What actor’s facial expression in a movie will stay with you the rest of your life?

This is Eclipse. She’s still a puppy… about 8 months. We lost our Stella in September and after an appropriate period of mourning (Stella was a wonderful pitt mix) got Eclipse in early July. She’s a lab/border collie mix and super smart and sweet.

I hope, in spite of everything, some joy finds you both this season and in the New Year. Sending a bit of my own limited supply in the form of a picture of my son and I having the time of our lives this February at the Museum of Natural History with a big friend.

#ArtAdventCalendar Day 2!!

Yup, this is yesterday’s drawing—only refined in ink and on Bristol board. I always use a light board to do my ink drawings so I can preserve the pencil originals. This makes each ink version unique to others I may make.

It’s #ArtAdventCalendar time!

I have not been a productive artist this year. But I’m planning to use this year’s calendar to document a new project from sketch to (hopefully) finish.

Time constraints may mean skipped days. Sorry!

In the meantime, have some Corythasaurs as a starter! #paleoart

Me too. Mine is a very paleo-inaccurate triceratops skull, but renown paleontologist Jack Horner liked it!

Yours is also lovely, by the way!

Use only one piece of art to convince folks to follow you.

Addendum: ask those folks to harangue you into getting off your ass and making some *new* art if they like this.

I asked my son if he’d ever watched a sunset before—really watched it. He had not. So I’m incredibly happy I caught a sneaky picture of him as he experienced it.

Readers, his reaction was everything I wanted it to be, and I’ll leave it at that.

Cumberland Island, GA. It was a fine day for an excursion.

I’ll play along with the Selfie Checkpoint. Repost with a cute selfie if you, too, wish to join the fun.

It is the 40th anniversary of #CalvinAndHobbes but also my son’s 14th birthday.

I put those things together for no reason, really…

Being 53 is like deciding you’re going to 100 percent the game out of spite even though you hate almost everything about the game now, but no way are you going to get any of the DLCs and you will never NEVER play online mode.

One gets the impression this entire administration is being administered by men and women with profoundly broken souls.

And they are being exposed by the same.

Anyway, here’s a joke to round out this skeet:

The guy below the picture of me, Bill Pulte, an ambulatory pile of fecal matter and mucus in a suit (and a rabid Trump ally), is 37 years old.

Being a miserable, retched human takes its toll.

I am 53, bald and my beard is white. I may not look younger but I sure as hell look *better*.

I have 11,111 steps on 11/11.

I feel like I should be very still for a minute and let the energy of the universe fill me.

Fill me with what? I dunno.

Dino-sketchin on a Sunday night with chili cooking in the kitchen. Finding my joy where I can.

November 1 and a chill in the air.

Rather than doomscrolling, I’m invoking the original social media: sitting around a fire and chatting.

My mom hand-made this Batman costume in what must have been 1977 or 78. Adam West would have been proud.

The Dark Knight has no idea how good the short-sleeve look was.

Honest, she initiated this.

8/ I have a Fairy Tale divorce.

My ex-wife and I remain close friends. We eat a “family dinner” at her house every Tuesday and take family vacations together. She is a model co-parent.

We just really needed to live in separate houses.

Hey, white guys: I’m no paragon of virtue, but my tattoos don’t rely on Nazi symbology, just lyrics written by a dude who mostly annoyed his band mates.

(Still good lyrics. Art is weird.)
