I mostly remember crossing Magmoor Caverns a dozen times over the course of the game. I can't remember the exact reasons, but it sure got annoying.
Metroid Prime is a really amazing game until the second half when it starts doing this kind of stuff a lot more frequently.

I only played the first Prime, but I'm already getting flashbacks to getting halfway through Phazon Mines for a beam, then getting pinged to go get something in Magmoor Caverns or Phenandra Drifts or some shit, and then the mission ping chimes in with an objective way deep in Phazon Mines' butthole.

I'm just glad monobutt inflation got to be a mostly agreeable name after a time when people were using "pear shape" to describe like three or four different actual executions.

It's just pretty unfortunate how many others I know who've been looking forward to this game so feverishly for years suddenly went from "Day 1 buy" to "I'll wait and see how the rest of the game shakes out first" from this one news update.

I don't even mind the idea itself, and hope the other guys are cooler at least, but I feel like the execution of Myles is giving the idea the worst first impression it could've for longtime fans who just wanted a new Metroid Prime to get immersed in.

I do kinda feel for the fans who've been waiting for eight years for this, and then only weeks before release we see the first hour of the game has almost the total opposite tone that people played the series for. I'm just baffled why they thought Metroid of all things needed chatty companions.

There's kind of a time and place for these characters though, Treasure Planet isn't exactly an experience fans go into with the expectation of atmospheric isolation.
