They'd have to outright buy Epic Games to get Fortnite. Could they? Maybe, but who knows if they would wanna spend the money? Probably just continue with their brand crossovers.

...production team that'll have some fresh ideas & directions to take the franchise, they figure out the best course of action for the toy market, & hopefully they can get the distribution rights back to be able to bring it out of Asia & make more money. Sentai, like PR, won't stay dead for long.

in the 80s & 90s. It came back with Kuuga in 2000 & is still stronger than ever.

Hopefully with the new Gavan reboot they're doing, that'll be stronger than ever too since the previous one showed promise, but they only did a few movies.

Hopefully in the near future, Toei will put together a good

If we look at other franchises that had a hiatus...

Doctor Who went off the air for 16 years (excluding the bad 30th anniversary special & the '96 TV movie) & came back stronger than ever in 2005.

Star Trek went dormant a few times & still had success afterwards.

Kamen Rider had a few hiatuses...

So, yeah, I get why people are focusing on Hasbro & PR, but it's not just them that are causing Sentai to go on hiatus. There are many different logistical factors that go into these things behind the scenes.

This also doesn't mean that Sentai can't come back or the hiatus is a bad thing.

I think if Bandai Japan did more with their adult collector's line like making certain items go to general retail, having certain items cost less, put back out older or newer, better molds of popular seasons' mechs, & other things, they'd do very well appealing to adult fans.
December 1, 2025 at 11:55 AM
...in their later years is that they just couldn't compare with the JP toys. And, yeah, different markets I know, but other companies have been able to give the international audiences of shows like these good products. Even Bandai has & still does. It got really depressing for me & others.
December 1, 2025 at 11:55 AM
Weapons, yeah, I can see that.

The mechs, though, are usually pretty top notch with the scales & builds. They never feel or look cheap. Comparing with Bandai America from the middle of the Disney era on, or Hasbro, I think they're usually a lot better. The main reason I started to resent Bandai US

shrunk down in scale.

As for the adult collectors, Bandai's been doing that with the Memorial line. However, the items being Premium Bandai exclusive & charged at premium prices is probably a setback. IMO, there's no reason for the changers to be that. They SHOULD be given wider releases.

...in Don Brothers & Gozyuger, but the gears & rings aren't the Ranger Keys.

I do push back on the idea of the roleplay items being too small a bit, though. The changers are (usually) pretty in-step with the sizes of the props, only not being when the changers are also weapons. THOSE get...

really fuck with the Ranger Keys outside of Japan. And the Mobirates being a roleplay item that used the keys like it did was also awesome because, even if you don't have the previous changers, you can just Gokai Change into the suits with them. It's a win-win. Eventually, they caught on with this
December 1, 2025 at 11:55 AM
This kinda also shows when Bandai America brought the keys outside of Japan & they shrunk them 1/3 of the size. Rather than keep the molds of the Japanese ones & appeal more to the adult collectors, they only thought kids would want them for some reason even though a lot of adult Sentai & PR fans...

of some sort of collectible like the Ranger Keys. But the thing about that is, while the Ranger Keys could appeal to adult fans, most of the other collectibles couldn't because they're gimmick items that only have appeal if you fuck with the gimmicks. Ranger Keys could appeal to a lot of people.

Go-Busters, which had a more normal toyline for Sentai, they lost a lot of money from those no longer being produced regularly since they had them in Gashapon machines. Plus, maybe the mechs that were based on previous seasons of Sentai. When they did Kyoryuger, they started an annual tradition...

Then, Sentai toys failing to appeal to the adult fans. Apparently, the toys failed to do this, which I can see. I think the series to, unfortunately, blame for this is Gokaiger. Gokaiger's toyline had a fantastic collectible for older fans in the Ranger Keys. As soon as those went away during...

Kyuranger having a lot of characters & a lot of stuff as toys, that drives up development costs for producing the shows & (I assume) toys, so while sales were strong at the start, the momentum didn't carry with more products & didn't bring in a lot of revenue as a result.
December 1, 2025 at 11:55 AM
cooperates, but also Hasbro being the toy manufacturer means they'd also have to get the ok from them to release Sentai toys over here officially. Which, who knows if they would.

Finally: failing to appeal to the adult collector's market.
Tane suggests that when you have a series like...

All this to say that the decision to stop licensing Sentai footage also cut into the revenue that Toei was getting.

And, because of Hasbro owning the international distribution rights to Sentai outside of Asia, they can't properly try to expand outside of there with the shows unless Hasbro...
