Weird to feel excited about anything these days, but grateful to have the "distraction" of working on a project I deeply believe in. Thanks to Getty for supporting books about women artists and excited to (eventually) see 'Structure and Flow: The Life/Work of Claire Falkenstein' out in the world!

Taste of Chicago, in the great American city called “a hellhole” by a gangster President.

Still there. As of yesterday, at least. No telling what’s happened since, as I’ve been told that this majestic city is also somehow a hellhole.
Color photo of part of Chicago’s distinctive skyline, including the mf’n SEARS TOWER scraping the skies above. Taken from quite a distance, trees, power lines and other buildings complete the cityscape, all framed by clouds so low and fluffy they look like a toddler’s cotton ball art project.

Illinois is launching a first-of-its-kind legal hotline for LGBTQ+ individuals — Illinois Pride Connect.

As the only state in the nation that will provide free legal advice to protect the LGBTQ+ community, we'll help fight ignorance with information and cruelty with compassion.

I had the opportunity to spend a couple of days last week at Detroit's Hart Plaza, designed by Isamu Noguchi--a powerful reminder of the immense power and pleasure of public art (and huge props to the city for getting the fountain back up and running!)

Perusing archival photos of 'Sculpture by Harry Bertoia' (1975) at the Art Institute of Chicago and sort of losing it over the ashtrays placed on the benches (also so grateful to institutions, in this case @artinstitutechi.bsky.social for making exhibition archival materials available online!)

totally. I just don't have a lot of faith at the moment that the GSA (or what is left of it) will actually do it!

When the Lines in Four Directions was suddenly removed from its downtown setting, concerns were raised about the sculpture’s whereabouts. Now the U.S. General Services Administration says the piece deteriorated and needed a complete rebuild.
Federal GSA says the Loop's famed Sol LeWitt sculpture 'deteriorated' and needs refabrication
But the administration said the much-needed fabrication work has not been approved or funded, despite pulling the artwork off its home on West Jackson Boulevard.
