“I’m grateful for being here, for being able to think, for being able to see, for being able to taste, for appreciating love – for knowing that it exists in a world so rife with vulgarity, with brutality and violence, and yet love exists. I’m grateful to know that it exists.” —Maya Angelou

My quote of the day

If you want to preserve democracy as we know it, you have to have a free and many times adversarial press. And without it, I am afraid that we would lose so much of our individual liberties over time. That's how dictators get started.

This was an excellent workshop and I can't wait to apply these methods to future projects. Read @sdukehan.bsky.social's thread below to learn about the topics covered. Thanks, @srndna.bsky.social!

1. Take this seriously. Here is how you do it. Take a screenshot of the #HatchAct violation, whether it's on LinkedIn or other social media or on the actual US Government website. When you file your complaint, provide your personal contact information. If you're a furloughed fed, you're off-duty.

OSC tells us how to file a #HatchAct complaint. Nearly all federal sites are in violation. Do not accept this as normal. #FEDSTRONG

Dr. Frumkin says that patients tend to like tools but clinicians don’t like them as much. Says patients appreciated how the tools helped to know themselves better, clinicians said didn’t add any new information @srndna.bsky.social

In the event of a shutdown, the eRA system will still be open. You can submit your applications. However, no one can process them. Peer review and council meetings will not occur. DSMB meetings may occur, and each ICO will likely have a safety officer serve as a exempted POC.

Many of you have asked about gifts to us during a shutdown, mainly doordash types of things. No. Instead, donate to local food banks like Manna in MoCo, Capital Area Food Bank in DC, Find Food in PGC, and Food for Others in Fairfax. These serve everyone. Please repost. #fedstrong #shutdown
