I worry about the same things as you, but:
1. Non-peaceful actions would be used to justify a more vicious descent into dictatorship
2. Most protesters are unwilling to escalate, so people willing to escalate would be badly outnumbered. He has the military.
3. Collateral damage

Our best bet is winning the public. We will lose the public with anything but turning the other cheek.
This mess is decades in the making, and it will take a while to fix.
But democrats really need to get it together, they are weak and need to be replaced through our vote and pressure.

Yes, Trump has declared war on the fundamentals of our society. Our society generally does not believe in use of military force on civilians.
