G'raha pushes her back towards the bookshelf, kissing her.

But Mara's mind only goes blank, the torrent of emotions and shock causing her to freeze. What the hells were they doing?

But then she catches on, her mind suddenly catching up and she realises, G'raha is *kissing* her. And it is all she can do but kiss him back, her eyes falling shut as she leans into it. His lips are impossibly soft and it is almost dizzying, she has to reach for his shoulder to ground herself— and to pull him even closer.

G'raha sighs into it, deepening the kiss as she responds earnestly. It is better than he had ever imagined, better than he could have possibly dreamed and he wants to drown in her, to get so caught up that he loses himself in her. And neither want the moment to end.

He almost has to tear himself away, if only to give them both a chance to breathe after a few moments, but he cannot bear to be apart from her. "Was that okay?" he asks breathlessly.

Mara cannot stop the way she grins at him as she presses her forehead to his, lost in the deep red of his eyes as she catches her own breath. "More than okay," she assures him.

Yet neither are able to keep off each other for long, G'raha is kissing Mara again more fervently. Wanting to taste every ilm of her as he wraps his arms around her. And he is never going to let her go.

And Mara simply... smiles at him. Though it does not reach her eyes.

"It is, yes..." she agrees.

"And it would be remiss of me to keep you when I'm supposed to make sure you aren't overworking yourself."

Mara quickly turns to leave.

But despite herself, she has always been terrible at hiding her expressions. And G'raha realises that he is somehow still causing her pain. That he may lose this chance forever should he keep pushing her away.

He reaches out this time, quickly taking her hand in his own. "Mara..."

She looks back to him, her expression pained, confused—

But G'raha closes the gap before she can say anything, pressing his lips to hers. Mara's eyes widen in shock.

G'raha leans in close...

"My lord!" A voice cries out suddenly and Moren emerges from elsewhere in the library. Tome in hand, he rushes towards them. "I found something that may—"

Mara and G'raha jump back in surprise, and in horror. Moren realises he has walked in on something he should not have. "Oh...! Forgive me, I— I didn't mean to intrude— interrupt—"

"You didn't—" Mara starts.
"We're not—" G'raha says at the same time.

"I'll just—" Moren turns back towards the way he came. "I'll go! Pray forget I was ever here!"

The pair are mortified at being caught, staring after him while their blushes darken.

And when the moment passes they look at each other again. Mara crosses her arms, hugging herself tightly while G'raha rubs his arm anxiously. A small chuckle is shared between them but whatever words they have for the other seem caught in their throats.

"...it really is getting late, isn't it?" G'raha manages finally, fearing the moment is gone and they may have gotten a little caught up in things...

She drops her other hand, exposing her vulnerability in the moment. "I don't mind you being close," she says softly.

G'raha cannot meet her gaze. 'You couldn't possibly...' he thinks.

$'...we are literal worlds apart... we should not...' he tries to reason with himself, his thoughts fractured, unfinished. His mind races as his eyes fall to Mara's hand holding onto his and he finds his conviction weakening... 'And yet you still... I still...' Mara smiles at him, almost hesitantly as she squeezes his hand reassuringly.$ And he cannot resist returning her smile once more. Not when she looks at him so earnestly.

"'Tis just..." he says, tilting his head towards her and lowering his voice. "Perhaps it would be best to retire for the evening, before I make more of a fool of myself..."

It is nearly intoxicating being this close, as the anxiety leaves Mara's gaze and a boldness takes over. She gently tugs him closer. "And if I wanted you to...?"

He cannot take it. The last of his defences drop and he can no longer deny— no, resist her when she gives him that look. After all they had been through, how long he had dreamed, waited, hoped? If there was even a chance, despite everything, that she could somehow possibly want this too...
His eyes are drawn to her lips, and he can feel her shudder when his breath fans over her skin...

Mara raises her book to hide her face somewhat.

While G'raha gives Mara a soft look, not really thinking in the moment.

But he quickly realises the position they are in, his own blush creeping across his cheeks and ears drooping back.

"A— apologies," he stammers, moving to step away from her. "I didn't mean—"

"Wait, G'raha…!" Mara moves without thinking, grabbing his hand before he can get too far.

"I..." Her expression changes, suddenly anxious as she speaks.

Back to a two panel comic.
G'raha makes his way to the bookshelf behind him, while Mara's gaze lingers on him a little longer. "Now where was it...?" he asks.

G'raha searches the shelves with a furrowed brow.

His attention is drawn to the higher shelf, craning his neck as he reaches up to get a better look.

He taps the spine of each book as his search continues, moving to the side as he follows them along the shelf.

Mara, who had made an effort to read over her tome once more, looks back at G'raha out the corner of her eye.

Then gasps, a pink blush appearing across her cheeks.

"Ah, there—" G'raha says, having not noticed Mara's gaze on him.

...or that in his search, he has moved to stand directly in front of her.

A hyuran woman (Mara) with white hair is leaning against a bookshelf, reading a tome, while the Crystal Exarch, his hood down, is leaning over a desk, poring over his own tome.

The Exarch traces a crystal finger across the page as he reads over the tome. "No luck here, either..." he muses.

"I was really hoping to make more headway this evening, but..." his eyes are focused on tome before him.

From behind, Mara's attention appears to be on the Exarch he hums to himself, rather than the book in her hands.

G'raha looks over his shoulder to Mara. "There is one last tome I would like to check, should my keeper be amenable."

Mara turns a page in her book, averting her gaze slightly. "One more, G'raha. But afterwards you need a break. Lyna will have my head if she finds out you're working through the night again."

G'raha, chuckles. "Worry not, my friend. I will do my best to ensure our dear Captain leaves your head intact, then."

Mara smiles softly at him, while G'raha returns the expression in kind.
