Not sure if Faves From The Year will be thing on BlueSky or if this many images will even work, but here are 9 of my favorites from 2024, just to try and find out. I have a bunch more posted over on my website if you want to check them out www.outdoorexposurephoto.com/favorite-pho...

One of my favorite aspen groves in Oregon, along a slow stretch of the Deschutes River where you can get great reflections in the fall.

This brings back memories of stomping around the Iceland highlands with good mates, Thor Jonsson, Peter Gordon, @nickpagephoto.bsky.social , Thomas Heaton and Norman McClosky.

Fall color and falling water goodness from Ohiopyle State Park, Pennsylvania, which actually is isn't far from Frank Lloyd Wright's famous Fallingwater House.

I’ve photographed this Eastern Sierra aspen grove in every season, but November revealed something new. With the leaves gone and no snow yet, the frosty brush glowed purple—a color I’d never seen here before. Whether real or a mix of red branches and blue shadows, it was beautiful to see.

The first rays of the day illuminate late autumn foliage in the Owens River Valley, California.

Magical misty autumn woods. Slovenia, 2017. Thanks to @lukaesenko.bsky.social who predicted this light and atmosphere to the minute.

A couple weeks ago, on the way to the Eastern Sierra for Photo Cascadia's annual get-together, Adrian Klein, Zack Schnepf and I stopped to photograph a beautiful and misty Burney Falls. I had never seen it with fog like this before.

Seoraksan National Park in the Republic of Korea from my visit there back in October.

Mountains in the Dolomites lurking in the clouds after a snowstorm.

A couple of weeks ago, I spent a wonderful morning with the Photo Cascadia crew at the Hot Creek geothermal area in the Eastern Sierra. I’ve photographed this spot many times, but I think this was my favorite light yet. If you’re not familiar with Photo Cascadia, check us out: www.photocascadia.com

Smith Rock State Park, Oregon. From this vantage you can see that the Crooked River just about doubles back and meets itself.

I don't know if this scene connects for you, but walking around these woods while thin patches of fog passed through was transformative. Taken in the Umpqua National Forest, not far from where I grew up.

A few years ago, I photographed these vibrant, algae-covered rocks at Otter Crest Beach on the Oregon Coast. The spot only appears at low tide and is crazy slippery. On my last visit, the rocks were buried under sand, so I’m glad I captured this scene when I had the chance.

From an extended van trip to the east coast I did in Autumn 2023. Great Smokey Mountains NP had too many people for my taste, but I found I could be all by myself wading up creeks in the side valleys.

From my recent trip to Korea. David Cobb and I photographed this waterfall in the Mureung Valley, but it reminded me of falls I saw in the eastern US last year. We started our hike late on a rainy afternoon, so we had the trail mostly to ourselves, rare in Korea.
