As soon as Thatcher became cosy with Gorbachev and decided that we no longer needed a large military presence, given the 'end of the threat' of WWIII, the rush to reduce the armed forces began.
Very little investment, reductions of all resources, ka-ching for private companies followed.

My money wouldn't be on the mid-terms being suspended, though that is a possible option? No, I think the psychos in the Whitehouse will more favour the Putin approach, to have elections where the opposition are neutered and/or the results will be decided in advance?

Can recommend the Aussie Akubra hats. Not cheap, but very high quality, and loads of Oz cred!

Of course, as a rule, there is zero democracy!
