The stupidest premise for a book series ever, but it's simply outstanding. Humanity was apparently seeded eons ago by aliens to create fodder for an intergalactic game show. Carl enters the word dungeon with his ex-girlfriend's prize-winning show cat Princess Donut. I read books 1-3 over holidays.

Good sci-fi/fantasy to get through the end times:
Project Hail Mary - turns out Andy Weir wasn't a one-hit wonder. This is as good as The Martian.
Leviathan Wakes - first book of the Expanse series and WAY better in book form. Good vs. ultimate evil. Relevant right now, right?
