Educator. Lover of animals, nature, history, and democracy.

Trying to balance rage reposting with pictures of cute animals and gorgeous places. The photos are mine, the animals are not.
A moment away from the chaos.

I paused to enjoy a moment of beauty on my way home tonight.
January 13, 2026 at 2:38 AM
I woke to rain and dreadful news of our felonious president engaging in more illegal acts. Moments of joy were fleeting; the only photo I took today was of lichen (apparently a sign of clean air).

Enjoyed a calm, gray day spent with a good book.

Wishing you many small, sustaining moments of joy this year, as we continue the work of defending our democracy.

There were rumors the fog might lift. Thus far, the forecast feels mostly aspirational.

It is. I love it here.

I took pictures of small white fungi yesterday too, though it was a bit warmer and didn’t frost until last night.

My dahlia waited until late October to have its first bloom.

Me too! So glad you got to see so much while you were here.

Juvenile eagles are noisy, but ultimately he enjoyed the fish too.

It’s a nearly perfect day in this Washington, watching an eagle eating a salmon under a clear blue sky. It would be infinitely more relaxing if our democracy wasn’t getting picked apart in DC.

A belated happy No Kings Day to all who celebrate. I didn’t make it to a large protest this weekend, but I led chants and cheers for our local protest with folks aged 6-96.

Beautiful! Mine just bloomed today too.

I love when my furry neighbors drop by for a visit and graciously allow me to pet them.
May 14, 2025 at 12:17 AM
To think they used to annoy me loitering endlessly in the before times. I had no idea. (pic from August 2024)

Taking a moment to breathe. I will always appreciate a wide open beach and cloudless blue sky.

He came for another visit. He wanted all the love until he didn’t.

Mr. Mustachio visits my yard regularly (though clearly this is an old photo).

Merry Christmas to those who celebrate and best wishes to all for the upcoming year.
I hope we can all find moments of joy and the strength to continue to fight for our democracy.

It has been a day, but at least I got to spend some time with my fluffy neighbor this evening.

One more brief moment of procrastination (also mindfulness & appreciation) before returning to work.
Sunny weather is in the forecast for this afternoon.

Sunset viewed from a grocery store’s parking lot.
Dinner was delicious and possibly worth missing a better view.
