Another social media app… Polaroid portraits of rad folks and poorly drawn sketches of folks I haven’t been able to photograph.
And his videos of dropping off his ballots have probably done more to increase voter turnout than organizations focused on increasing voter turnout.

Earlier this year, his current project, New Orthodox, put out an amazing record recorded by Steve Albini. I hope Nick continues to make music for a long time.

For many years she planned events at the Seattle Center and she was part of the team that put on the Macefield Music Festival. I didn’t get know her well until she and Brandy became friends. After meeting Michael, Brandy told me, “I love her so much!” And what’s not to love? Michael is just great.

He’s such a great example of the Do-It-Yourself ethos and he makes rad things happen.

In the late 80s and early 90s, Jim created several fliers for shows by bands that would go on to become really famous (Nirvana, Melvins, Soundgarden, Screaming Trees, etc.). He’s published several books collecting his work.

His portraits convey more life than a photograph can. In 2013 he contacted me to ask if he could use a photo I’d taken of Mark Arm as a reference for a painting he’d been commissioned to paint.

He definitely holds the record for playing the most Rat City Recon festivals. Besides playing in rad bands, he also brews delicious beers.

I first saw him on a dark and stormy night back in 2007 when his old band, Madraso, played a show at the original Crocodile. These days he’s creating serpentine low-end riffs in Glose. When you find out he’s a college math professor, suddenly those crazy time signatures make sense.

If you’ve never seen the documentary, Busted Circuits and Ringing Ears, I highly recommend it.

He delivered one of the best lines in the movie Singles (“I think you’ve got the wrong number, lady, but I’ll be right over”.) A true gem of a human being and a pillar of the Seattle music scene for nearly 40 years.

She also led a full on supergroup that put out an EP of grungy goodness under the name, Pegadeth.

Tad has been busy scoring films and releasing monolithic solo records. His score for the horror movie Cara was recognized by the Dead and Sudburied Film Festival in Sudbury, England.

I also highly recommend his Christmas albums for your next holiday gathering. Corey, aka Merchbot 2000, has put in a lot of miles out on tour. He shared some great tour stories when he was a guest on the Tomorrow We Die podcast. Corey J. Brewer, musician.
