Had an interesting interaction in Wallingford: a driver said I was fast because he’d seen me biking in Bellevue a little earlier. I was a little out of breath, but yep, even for 10 miles, e-biking is still pretty efficient.

When I tried to grab a coffee at Lake City’s only coffee shop open on Sunday, the mayor was holding a rally there, so I went for a walk instead and checked how things have been going under his leadership

Google Maps still thinks it is a parking lot

U-District is really a nice place for street parties. The k-pop (demon hunter) dance party brought lot of families to the U District Station Park

Just after seeing this, while another train was approaching, I saw other drivers turning right on red, despite a clearly posted sign prohibiting it.

Cruise traffic is insane. A car was stopped on the tracks and only avoided a train collision because another driver jumped out of his car to open the gate. This area clearly needs traffic officers.

I was just as shocked with the news about the route 2 bus only lane as you. We are working on it. We need to prioritize pedestrian safety and not go backwards on our transit investments.

Same problem on the other side: not 1 but 3 drivers stopping in the bike lane / bus stop. The Seattle Police cruiser passing by (after the bus), without doing anything was a good reminder that this is just business as usual…
Cars in bike lane and bus stop. Hard to see but a police cruiser was following the bus

Nice. Did you ever get a flat with either of these?
The only problem with the Tannus Armour was that it’s very hard to install. If I had to do it again, I’ll ask my local bike shop.

I think it was @jeremycole.bsky.social who pointed this out in a comment on X. Really appreciate the tip, I had no idea these were out there!

(Not a sponsored post) After two flats on Seattle streets, I installed tire “armours” last year. Yesterday, I heard a suspicious crunch while riding. When I checked the tires later, I found a glass shard (and a tack) embedded, but neither had pierced the armour. That’s real peace of mind!
Hard to see, but this is actually a small glass shard that poked a hole in the tire. Metal piece I removed from the tire

Hehe yes, that is the “bike lane” pre-rapidride construction. It was a de-facto parking zone for ride share cars and delivery vehicles… with the new even larger bike lane with no real protection this will happen again

I saw some construction on Saturday, I was wondering what they were doing. Really not sure why the want to open this to cars but can foresee it will increase the number of drivers parking on the bike lane in that block after they open it…

I have some questions…
I should really abstain from updating my phone and watch software whenever a new version is released.
Screenshot with stats from my bike ride captured with ios26+iwatch showing a crazy average speed of 131 mph and inflated distance Screenshot of the map showing the ride from lake city to greenlake and showing 65 miles !!

I hate riding my bike on the sidewalk (even though it’s legal here), but sometimes there’s no safer option. As I was following my 6-year-old biking on the sidewalk next to a busy arterial, someone told me I should not ride on the sidewalk. So… where exactly are we supposed to bike?

I don’t know if I ever saw this bike lane unobstructed. Good thing Union Street bike lane is on the list to receive better protection.

Yet another one from today. Good thing the bike lane is buffered now.

Why are bike lanes always the go-to spot for construction signs?

Maybe anyone outside a car is invisible to some drivers: one driver ignored the ‘Street Closed’ sign and the traffic officer standing right in front of it in a bright yellow jacket. The officer had to knock on the car just to get the driver’s attention and explain he couldn’t go down that road.

My neon orange jacket feels like an invisibility cloak: in less than five minutes, a driver reversed while I was right behind them and nearly hit me, two others turned into the bike lane instead of yielding, and a van parked on the bike lane was the cherry on the cake

Data from last week from this site shows a strong focus on enforcing paid parking, and surprisingly many tickets for expired or improper plates. It’s also clear from the numbers that the chances of getting tickets for illegal parking in residential neighborhoods are really low…
