New sculpture (gates) in the Seattle Garden, Parc Grand Blottereau, Nantes France. Inaugurated this week. Artist Barbara Earl Thomas. Garden by lycee in G. Blotterau.

A pileated woodpecker has been busy. #HoweSoundBC
A large cedar tree is standing in a forest, about 18-inches in diameter. There are a series of deep, rather rectangular holes that start about knee level and go up the tree. Each hole about the size of your hand (palm and fingers) and several inches deep, exposing the colors of the interior wood layers. These are holes made by pileated woodpeckers seeking insects for a meal. The woodpecker is obviously being fed well but the tree is not doing well if there are that many holes being punched in the tree.

I switched out my old squirrelproof feeder for a different design.
A tall cylindrical bird feeder in the center is full of seed. Around it is a green metal cage designed to keep out squirrels. Inside the cage, munching on bird food, is a squirrel. Not so squirrel-proof after all.

Such an unpleasant device. When you first put your hands under it, it loudly blows air, then it pauses, starts to run water, then you soap and rinse, finally it blows more loud air. In the end, your hands are still wet and your ears are ringing. The Dyson hand faucet was not used by the buyer.
A sink with instructions to show how to use a faucet to wash your hands. The faucet is a pipe that emits from the wall and ends in an arrow-shaped form.
