To help ease the financial crunch caused by the rising cost of living, I helped enact a multi-year increase to the state’s minimum wage. On Jan. 1, the minimum wage will increase to $17 per hour in New York City, Long Island and Westchester County.

Businesses that refuse to accept cash leave vulnerable New Yorkers behind. That's why I helped pass a new law prohibiting food stores and retail shops from refusing to accept payment in cash. This law also helps save consumers money by lowering costs and eliminating hidden fees.

Today we hosted our Thanksgiving Turkey Giveaway! In partnership with the Met Council we were able to provide dozens of frozen turkeys to neighbors across the district, ensuring families can enjoy a warm and festive holiday meal together.
