His Rivers of Bile speech!

When I saw thick mist this morning, I grabbed my camera and ran for the door. I staked out this pylon for about an hour. The sun was trying to shine through the mist, which produced this unusual glow!
The blur of a speeding car passes a pylon and a telegraph pole while the morning sun lights up the mist from behind

Your pylons look so different from ours in France.

As of 2024, there have now been nearly 13,000 successful climbs.

860 climbs were recorded in 2024. The Nepali govt charges $25,000-$30,000 per climber. Climbing generates c. $500M pa or about 7% of Nepali GDP.

The greatest number of climbers to summit in a single day was on May 23, 2019: 358!

Gorgeous image! When I first saw it on my timeline, I saw a line pylons not trees. I need help.

This should keep you octoppied!

These will make the strangest roadkill. Imagine explaining that to the patrol officer.

I'm trying ICM - Intentional Camera Movement - at the moment. I use a long shutter speed, 2-5 seconds, with a neutral density filter to manage the light. It's fairly random, so most pics go in the bin.

Pylons in the mist

I went out in the mist this morning to take photos of my favourite pylon field. I spent an hour taking over 150 pictures of PYLONS IN THE MIST, yet this is my favourite. It's the rear windscreen of my car that I snapped when I got fed up and went for a pee...
Black & white photo of rain drops on windscreen. The arc of the wiper left a portion clear. The reflection of an electricity pylon is reflected in it.

37 was an exaggeration; 11 wasn't nearly enough. I've recently been going beyond and cranking the sliders all the way to the top. I just can't help myself...

The White House apologises for the interruption of this interview. The Windows operating system crashed and required a reboot.

I work with what is there... and by turning up the knob to 37.

This reminds me of the famous truism about photography... I'll get back to you the moment I remember it!

I like to think of it as being pre-caffeinated... some of my best crawls from bed to bathroom have been conducted in this state.

For me, this looks blurred, not out of focus. The blur reveals the action where a totally sharp pic would have disguised it. Great pic!

The play of wispy clouds on the left fooled me into thinking I was looking at the shadow of a tree.

As I age, my pareidolia grows stronger. I see a cat not a ribbon, a mouse not a nut or a horse not a fallen branch.

My mind's eye brings animals to what is see, if only for the briefest moment!

I think this picture works really well! The colour and shape of the flower stands so strongly against the background that I assumed it was craft not blunder that made this work so well.

For me, blunders and mistakes are behind what I like best in my pictures. I just pretend I did it on purpose.

I used to collect covers of this magical song and although nothing comes close Judy Garland's original, the version by Israel Kamakawiwo'ole is utterly sublime.

We did. They left late after a lovely evening filled with rolling conversations, shared laughter and the pop of wine bottles being opened. Although a generation younger, we didn't feel the years. So natural was the flow that we didn't notice this until after they had gone home. A rare moment!
