Much of global agricultural adaptation policy still equates adoption with success. But adaptation is an uneven, iterative process shaped by capacities and social inequalities. We call for rethinking interventions around the long-term trajectories and needs of marginalized communities.

Supreme Court decision limiting scope of NEPA is interesting including liberal judges concurring. It rests agency discretion to decide whether to consider "upstream" and "downstream" effects in project scope. Read it! The case is a good overview of NEPA law!

Coastal Georgia's Sapelo Island is home to Gullah Geechee people. They fear a zoning ordinance allowing the construction of large homes would effectively push them off the island in favor of wealthy developers. At the Georgia Supreme Court today. Reporting by @currentlymary.bsky.social:
Sapelo referendum heads to Georgia Supreme Court - The Current
The Georgia Supreme Court will hear oral arguments on Wednesday to decide whether or not to uphold a judge's decision that stopped a referendum on controversial zoning in McIntosh County.

Reminds me of a recent episode of This American Life. The reasons given for constantly bending the truth and the absence of proper oversight are unbelievable.

If you're ever tempted to give a meaningless referee report for the purpose of telling the author to cite 10 of your marginally relevant papers, just stop right there. Reviewers and editors (like myself) see right through that and will have those references removed before publication. #AcademicSky

Nearly 36,000 observations. Tried both contiguous and distance-based weights with different normalizations. The model runs fine in R and residuals look fine. impacts() throws memory allocation errors after running a while in all scenarios.

I read that Stata is better with estat impacts for large datasets. But, my coefficients on spregress with dvarlag and ivarlag look wildly different from R. Has anyone else experienced such discrepancies between R and Stata for SDM estimation? 2/2 #econsky

Running a spatial durbin model on my cross-sectional data to capture spatial lags in my DV and regressors in R. I used lagsarlm(), but running into computational issues with impacts() to get direct/indirect effects. 🧵1/2 #econsky
