Finally made it to the Twitter bomb shelter.
Think I’ve given up trying to replace twitter with this app. Sorry guys, I wanted to make the grand moral stand, but the like 2 accounts I followed who made the jump here just don’t make this site feel like less of a wasteland.

Stuff actually happens on the bird app, and I can’t say the same here.

Periodic check-in…

Is this app interesting yet?

Does anyone know why Kenneth Branagh never wound up directing any Harry Potter films when they started shuffling through directors? He’s a pretty avid “one for them one for me”-type, he’s, like, the most British person in history… and he was literally in one of them.

Perusing Shawn Levy’s Wikipedia page and learning some interesting stuff. The guy is from Montreal (instantly disowned) and roughly a third of his article is dedicated to unrealized projects…

43 paragraphs’ worth of unrealized projects… for Shawn Levy.

star wars did give us a slur for robots (clankers) but i don’t use it bc i don’t want to have to look a robot in the eye in fifty years and be like “you don’t understand it was a different time…”

I’d love nothing more than for this app to fully overtake my current usage of Elon’s dumping ground. But like…

Gotta be honest.

Lumet’s Murder on the Orient Express… not all that much better than Branagh’s.

Maybe this is just inherently a very uninteresting murder mystery no matter who’s telling it.

No Other Land is definitely the documentary to beat for the year.

I think Kornél Mundruczó falls into the same category as Kirill Serebrennikov; two directors with an amazing eye for incredibly cold, roving long takes, and absolutely no idea what to do with them to make the surrounding films interesting or memorable in any significant way.

I’ll never find it not funny that Haneke thinks the only 2 movies to ever portray sex responsibly onscreen are In the Realm of the Senses and Salò…

Buddy, just admit that you hate fucking and leave it at that.

Can't think of many directors working today who frustrate me as much as Miguel Gomes. The man has a vision; his movies have a distinct look that's incredibly hypnotic... and it almost always comes in service of a series of dull, self-impressed, metatextual half-ideas.

You know how when a Disney Channel star escapes the Mouse, the first thing they do is try to shock people with edgy art that just comes off like baby's first curse word? Imagine if Danny Boyle were one of those Disney stars and THEN made Trainspotting.

Ladies and gentlemen, The Basketball Diaries.

Gotta keep it a buck…

As far as sexed-up Paul Schrader films go, The Canyons > Cat People.

Gotta admit, Cineplex has a pretty solid sense of humour shoehorning an Air Canada ad after the trailer for Flight Risk.

This has happened twice now…
