I forgot my login information, so...sorry about not providing any announcements during the weekend. I had a wonderful time visiting @yelsraek.bsky.social and his lovely family! We also did quite a bit of River City Ransom co-op, and it went very well. Can't wait to see you again at AGDQ!

That autumn thing, I guess.

For AGDQ last year, I designed what has become my signature tennis top. It may be time to consider making some shorts to match, and build a true monstrosity of an outfit.

Tried a little something. It came out pretty well. I don't know when or if I could actually get something like this in production, but it's cool to finally have a proof of concept.

Here's hoping!

I just found this doodle I did from memory of @yelsraek.bsky.social four years ago. It pleasantly surprised me, so I'll share it here too.

After a jog today, I tried a few tricks. I've still got some strength left, and I didn't feel much pain. Here are corkscrews from different angles, then linked into a couple of tricks, and then some extras.

After five years, I feel it might finally be time for a Twitch icon update.

(1: 156 lbs vs 167 lbs) For the first half of 2025, ever since I weight-trained on a whim at AGDQ...I've done my first extended period of strength training in many years. 2+ strength workouts per week. My arm size did nothing but diminish for a decade, and it's finally coming back a little bit.

A couple of weeks ago, I got some shots in front of a budding tree before it greened. The shadows dim it a little, but still. I like to capture the fleeting moments of seasonal changes whenever I can. (1)

(8) I did a little something extra this time...I recorded vlogs. A LOT of them. An entire documentary's worth. So...I think I'll be making one. I hope I have the energy to be able to BEGIN to do this event justice, and the power I see in it. Watch this space. Best wishes, all. 'Til next time.

(7) It was another magical week. I had only one downer - when taking one last video of the practice room, a teardown worker told me to shove off. I UNDERSTOOD (THANK YOU, workers), but felt REALLY foolish. The entire rest of the week, I felt I was right where I was meant to be. You're all the best.
January 12, 2025 at 11:43 PM
(6) And of course, everyone killed it in the stream room. So many wonderful runs, and that live backing track concert for Crazy Taxi was an indescribable experience. There's never a moment through the week where I feel lost...until it's suddenly slipping away at the end.

(5) Incredible things were everywhere I looked. Flibidydibity's wild SMB1 display setup, just sitting there for anyone to use. A loop of beautiful SM64 TASes. Rhythm gaming, Kusogrande...the list goes on. And MadMega set up Dragster, which I finally tried - to greater success than I anticipated!

(4) MadMega's NES Block, again, dominated my priorities and time for two of the seven days. I adore that side event so much. It is a glimmering beacon of collaborative fun and skill from the NES/retro community, and I can never pry myself from it. I made myself slightly useful this time, too.

(3) "Roommate block" went like a dream (partially due to sleep-deprivation, but hey). @yelsraek.bsky.social, @chessjerk.bsky.social, and @madmegax381.bsky.social were amazing. Dick Tracy, especially, was a highlight of the event. And it blew my mind that Rattle 'n' Roll made it onto some badges!

(2) This was my twelfth year watching GDQ, and my first GDQ as a runner. It was unreal how calming and natural it felt; the opposite of what I expected. But everyone working at the event makes such ease possible. I can't thank everyone involved enough - seriously, words aren't enough.

(1) #AGDQ2025 was another emphatically fulfilling event. This time - unlike last year - I was struck by some hefty melancholy as it ended. But that makes me all the more thankful that GDQ is cyclical...it will return, and if I'm able, I'll get to see everyone again, so we can celebrate anew.

Big AGDQ post coming later, but first, in case anyone were to run into this photo in the AGDQ 2025 library:

I'm probably being super paranoid, but I want to assure everyone that I was NOT trying a horrific signal here. I tried to point, and my hand went -FLAP.- BLEGH.

Anyway AGDQ rocked.

I can't avoid the fact that half of my list is basically the same lol

The other two then become incredibly difficult to narrow down for certain, but it makes sense to me why they pop to mind first.

As the great @yelsraek.bsky.social says...you miss Any% of the shots you don't take. This September, I put a LOT of thought and time into making the best submission videos I possibly could. We'll see what happens! Also, it sounds like this list won't be final - excited for that possibility!

And another shot of my current self with the previous portrait's optimism.

I went for another reference-less attempt; at myself from 2020 this time.

It's absolutely wild how much more fanciful and whimsical my pen got, as I peered in at the more idealized version of myself, before the hair loss and acrobatic deterioration. Really fascinating to me.
