The Manitoba Rolling Mills Company Limited first began in 1907 in Winnipeg. In 1912 it was decided that the Mills would move to Selkirk.

In 1949 the City of Selkirk worked to restore the park including building new benches, repairing buildings, and removing debris. The Park reopened on May 24th, 1949. Read more about the beloved Selkirk Park here: selkirkmuseum.ca/places/parks...

Today is Manitoba Day. It was decided on May 12, 1870, that Manitoba would become a province. But it was not until July 15, 1870, that it was officially created.

In 1950, Bud joined the Royal Canadian Sea Cadets Corps Daerwood, which would develop into a passion throughout his teenage years.

Bud’s first memory is growing up in war times. Every family had to ration food, such as sugar. The sugar rations also made for excellent entertainment!
