And then there were the yearly caps and the lifetime caps. No way he would get to adulthood and an employer plan before exhausting his lifetime cap. All it takes is 1 hospital stay to hit the cap. And if you hit the cap, you are uninsurable.

Dealt with that too. People don't realize how fast those lifetime caps are reached.

When I had to buy him an individual policy, my preventive steps led to his policy having an exclusion for anything related allergies or immunology. So anytime he got sick and went to the doctor, it was denied because they said it was immune related. It was a freaking nightmare.

And if we go back to pre Aca, even preventative stuff can result in exclusions. For example, my toddler had environmental allergies and so I wanted to know what the specialist allergens were so I could try to mitigate and also know which otc med would be most effective. So I took him to my immungist

If "daddy" can do it, why can't they?

And don't forget, if you're in the ER for whatever reason, don't forget to ask each physician if they contract with your insurance because while the hopsital might, the physician might not be. Because you know, you have to shop for care. The US Healthcare and insurance system is a complete failure.
December 11, 2025 at 6:08 AM
Tell me you have no clue how us healthcare and insurance work without telling me. Sheesh they are so freaking clueless how this works. Guess that's what happens when you get Cadillac coverage on the taxpayer's dime.

I would add that they step on LEGOs barefooted so it really makes it painful!

Not sure if you saw, but the feature story in the January issue of Texas Monthly dropped online Monday. www.texasmonthly.com/news-politic...
The Confessions of James Talarico
The insurgent Democrat wants religion out of politics. And he won’t stop preaching about it.

Says the naturalized citizen..oh but he's an affriker so it's in for him but not anyone else.
December 10, 2025 at 6:04 AM
Of course he would. He got our data.
December 10, 2025 at 5:41 AM
Ah yes he loves the miners or is it the minors? Just asking questions....
December 10, 2025 at 5:40 AM
They wouldn't because they actually have a social contract that I'm pretty sure we would love to have for ourselves.
December 10, 2025 at 5:38 AM
Tell me you are out of touch how us health insurance works without telling me you are out of touch.
December 10, 2025 at 3:32 AM
@democracymoms.bsky.social not sure if you are aware, but the Janauary issue of Texas monthly is publishing a long story about Talarico. Dropped online today. www.texasmonthly.com/news-politic...

Not surprised one bit. As many say, every accusation is a projection of their own confession.

I would be very interested to know if anyone is collecting data from High School class of 2023 forward on how many texas students now rule out Tx schools as a result of this and other TXGOP legislation and go out of state as a result. What is the brain drain? I know my son is 1.
December 9, 2025 at 7:01 AM
Not a surprising development to those of us in TX. Natural next step after the TX GOP outlawed DEI at all state funded colleges/ universities 2 years ago. TXGOP is happy that TX is the test for all the extreme white nationalist misogynistic crap & wants TX to be the real life Gilead.
December 9, 2025 at 6:59 AM
And right cue, it has started. Heard from one relative tonight who said she's the aoc candidate and TX doesn't need a radical aoc candidate. And this a relative who would gladly vote for Talarico over any of the republican "sellouts and crooks"

Many of my neighbors who were gerrymandered in to the new map to tx 30 from tx 33 were excited that she would potentially be our rep.
