99% of you have no idea who Ciena is or what they do, nor do you have any idea how the Internet is built & maintained. For most it’s an invisible thing that just ‘works.’

Well, Ciena just informed us that they “will pass along the costs [25%] of the new tariffs” to us beginning 3/4

Thanks, Trump.

I won’t say the next able-bodied person that tells me how to think/feel/write about disability will get slapped.

But I’m not going to say they won’t, either.

I'm Leigh! I mostly write character-driven, psychological #horror. Stuff that makes your heart ache. (The best compliment I ever received was when a reader said my story made her cry.) I've been writing for years, but got into horror during my MFA program at UW.

I'm going to say Cormac McCarthy. I don't know that he's really traditionally thought of as a #horror author, but The Road and Blood Meridian prove otherwise. My god, McCarthy was brilliant in the fullest sense of the word.

Q2 for #HorrorWritersChat. I'm intrigued already!

Who’s headed to @horrorwritersassoc.bsky.social‘s StokerCon this year? Missed the last one, but this time it’s just down the road from where I live, so I don’t have much excuse. Happy to buy you a drink if we meet up! @wnwagner.bsky.social, @lesleyconner.bsky.social?

THIS.
Sometimes when someone doesn't comment about the latest controversy it's because they've spent a month in the hospital with a family member and have to pretend everything is fine because they have a new book coming out.

But feel free to send angry messages because they didn't share an opinion.

Anyone else feel this way?

I do not like the unreliable narrator mechanic at all. It feels cheap, like I’m being cheated. It’s lame in the same way that “and then he woke up and it was all just a dream” endings do. If I know going into a story that the author uses this, I just won’t read it.

#HorrorWritersChat question 4 (last question but stick around in ten minutes for the outro):

Thanks to @dracuniversal.bsky.social for this variation on an existing question. What books / films were a significant influence or impact on your current WIP?

I’ll add cars to the list for their obscene data collection and sales of all of your info, location, etc. as well as these god awful touch screens. NO ONE IS ASKING FOR PHYSICAL BUTTONS TO DISAPPEAR! Especially with a slow, janky, horribly designed infotainment
