Oh yeah forgot but also made it so that it doesn't reset all the maps in every round when changing best of or counter picks on/off for one round.

Today's update has a small overhaul on the tournament map list generation:

- pattern support e.g. "always SZ somewhere in the maps always played" or "always start and end set with TC"
- streamlined the UI
- team pick style (e.g. ITZ) not considers maps already played

Also considering the recently played (considers 5 last maps per team) for team picked can make the format more viable I think. Previously it didn't consider them at all so you might be playing same exact maps in Grands and Bracket Reset. Now it tries to give you new maps to play.
sendou.ink
With patterns examples are

**SZ** means any mode 1st & 2nd & 4th & 5h but SZ always 3rd
[SZ] means SZ must be in the map list
[SZ!] means SZ must be in the maps guaranteed to be played (best of)

Also can be combined e.g. [SZ]*TC*

I read that in RM actually holding RM makes light speed weapons have greater speed than middle weight but heavy weight move with the same speed as middle weight. Has anyone actually tested this (with video preferably)? I would like to fix the calculator.

Investigated the bug with the CCA tournament that happened yesterday. Turns out it was related to running multiple Swiss brackets in one tournament which had not been tried out before yesterday. I found the root cause and a fix will be deployed tomorrow. Sorry for inconvenience!

Like when you actually make the event?
sendou.ink
I need to implement this still but in this edge case you should advance as the only team should get a BYE
sendou.ink
I guess not necessarily? Just you might have weirder match ups or unpredictable amount of teams advancing. Depends on your goals if that is a problem or not
sendou.ink
Sure! Will DM you later to pick your brain a bit.

I'm revamping sendou.ink map list generation everywhere (SQ, tournaments, /maps)

What kind of problems does it have today? Especially for TO's what is missing so that you wouldn't have to manually adjust the maps? Goal is to get it to always produce superior results to manual input.

3-0 is above 3-1

This format is quite popular in some other games but underutilized in Splatoon still. Why I think it has potential is that for teams it's always completely predictable if they advance or not and nobody is playing games that don't matter as you get eliminated when you can no longer reach the top cut.
sendou.ink
Today's update adds (experimental) support for "early elimination" Swiss. How it is different from normal Swiss is that the organizer sets a qualification criteria e.g. 3 wins. Any team who reaches that advances. It is a variation that provides exciting competition in qualifier phase.

For context what I'm thinking at least clarifying some things people commonly ask about like requirements to receive different roles or creating a tournament organization.
sendou.ink
In the comments I saw a lot of people also repeat commonly used mantras people tell why they are not doing well in solo, honestly in many cases you just need a bit of mental fortitude to overcome that thinking. Also necessary skill in doing well in competitive.
sendou.ink
There's nothing wrong with Splatoon X Rank so I would not anymore release a system that competes against it like Squid Colosseum. I don't think I could as a whole do better than X. 100% agree that if you're serious about getting better and not grinding solo then you're doing yourself a disservice
