Besides, while not impossible to do Harley without Joker, it's more trouble than it is worth.

Except the same insider who reported a villainous love interest said it is NOT Poison Ivy.

Also, Matt Reeves said the villain is someone who hasn't really been done in a movie before.

Now, allowing that he may not consider animated movies "real," I agree Phantasm would be the best use of ScarJo.

I think it's more likely to benefit DC Comics.

Netflix has licensed their shows for comic book adaptations before. Keeping it in-house would make sense. More than WB and Disney licensing their IP to Dynamite when they own Marvel and DC, anyway.

To DC Comics? Likely very little. It may yield them more work, as Netflix's contracts with Titan Comics on various adaptations expire.

Now, it may be a disaster for Dynamite Comics, who have benefited from licensing a lot of WB properties in the past few years.

The short version is that it merged with other companies so many times after being outright purchased that the infrastructure can't stand on its own.

Legally, there's also the debt charged at the studio itself.
