A wonderful way to honour Jane Goodall’s life is to care about all sentient animals, like she did, rather than just some of them.

Such a pleasure to talk to Lawrence Anton about how the #Sentientism worldview and #antinatalism might intersect: youtu.be/MpLAVGCR3wE

Imagine having a role model who encourages others to know nothing and to care about no one.

A #OneHealth approach committed to the health of our planet, non-human animals and human animals is powerful.

A #OneHealth approach that is only concerned with non-human animal "health" so we human animals can continue to safely exploit them, has made a terrible error.

Institutions and governments and corporations are driven by worldviews too.

For good or for ill.

Worldviews don’t just drive individuals.

Better pick a good one.

Thank you for listening!!

So glad that we've all agreed our beliefs should be based on good quality evidence and reasoning and that all sentient beings should matter seriously.

And now we can work together, in good faith, to try and make a better future for us all 🥰🤣

So no, human rights being under threat isn’t a good reason for ignoring non-human sentient animal rights. It’s a reason to take them way more seriously.

Weirdly the Universal Declaration of Human Rights doesn’t ground human rights. It just declares them based on faith. Not great for #Humanists or the non-religious.

To robustly defend #humanrights we need a scientific, real world basis for them (and yes of course it’s #sentience 😊)

Such a pleasure to speak at VCO about the @sentientism.bsky.social worldview last weekend. Love to Sash Jolliffe Yasawi 🤩 who gave up some of his valuable stage time &invited me to join him as a guest (yes, I felt like a bit of an interloper).

Here's roughly what I talked about in my 5ish minutes 👇

Debates between theists and atheists would be much more interesting if they talked about non-human sentient animal ethics.

Sadly, almost none of these debaters want to touch the topic. For very similar psychological and social norm reasons.

What’s your worldview?

I’m sure you are respected fully by your employer as a being in your own right not just as a “resource”, and you both entered voluntarily into this mutually beneficial relationship? 😊

Just as we should not commodify others, we should not allow ourselves to be commodified.

Imagine if “evidence, reason and compassion for all sentient beings” was taught in schools and families around the world.
