Bom Suk has weasled out of testifying himself. Coupang has also hired Washington lobbyists to get US congressmen to pressure South Korea on Coupang's behalf. This is not going down very well with people in Korea.

It doesn't help that Coupang is an American company, and that they sent a non-Korean speaking American rep to testify at the NA committee hearings.

The CEO is the unfortunately-named Korean-American 김범석 (Bom Suk Kim) - (given that he's American, shouldn't he anglicize that to Bum Suck Kim?).

There are also lots of groups gunning for them - labor unions, competitors etc, and not many who might wish to advocate for them. So they're getting lots of bad press.
