Unfortunately, due to some technical issues I needed to stop the stream. I’ll be back once I get my computer on wired internet XD it’s hard living in a house with two other streamers, but it should be fine once I’m hardwired in

The lack of coverage from “progressive” news outlets has been extremely worrying as well. It’s like no one is willing to call it out for what it is.

Couldn’t care less about doing anything right about now

Ah, okay.

? What games are you talking about? I thought we were discussing JRPGs and Chrono Trigger? Mostly Square Enix games?
December 17, 2024 at 1:00 AM
It’s like… the music is fantastic, the gameplay is engaging and dynamic, and the story is layered and full of depth. I didn’t play the game until well after I’d already beaten at least 15+ other JRPGs and I still think it cleared them. And I don’t even like the Toriyama art! It’s just that good

On release, No man’s Sky was dogshit. But they later patched it into a masterpiece. I can respect that because it was the creators themselves fixing their own mistakes, not some external group’s perception of what’s best. Sometimes the hackers DO know best. But then it’s a separate product.

But I even have games that contradict what I’m saying! I loved Ace Attorney Jnvestigations 2 before the localization, based on a fan translation. I even thought it was one of the best. I’d have never played that game without hacking, you know?
December 17, 2024 at 12:57 AM
I’m just saying that USUALLY a game should be judged on what we get to play. Like, I think part of the reason the OG Pokemon games aren’t as good as the GBA ones is because they’re so buggy. I’m not gonna rate them higher because people patched them. 95% of people wouldn’t even play the patches.
December 17, 2024 at 12:56 AM
But we did have ways? Like, Most of the Final Fantasy games got “patched” English releases. kingdom Hearts had three separate releases with patches?

And then we had rereleases on new platforms…

I’m just confused, I feel like you’re contradicting your own points
December 17, 2024 at 12:53 AM
That’s why I followed it up by saying “not that it means anything” XD

I don’t think that’s really an important part of my point anyways.
December 17, 2024 at 12:46 AM
I’m not speaking about intent though, we were discussing how hackers were “fixing” games. I’m talking simply about appreciating and valuing games based on how they released, regardless of the state. We can still appreciatePhantasy Starr 3 despite its flaws, but it comes with that asterisk.

Way more games are released these days - gamers don’t want to “waste time”. Before, you could maybe buy a few games a year, and this was how they extended their life. In todays age, we’re overwhelmed with options, so making the games shorter and easier is encouraged
December 17, 2024 at 12:37 AM
Absolutely! But you’re one person… these games were made over years with large dev teams. And none of them have come out to say they made it wrong. Not that that proves anything, just an observation. I think the remasters adding these functionality’s represents a larger thing
