I've been doing more pet portraits lately. Here's my most recent cat portrait. Building up the layers on her dilute tortie fur was satisfying.

I was hoping to finish a commission today, but my leg is acting up again so I've got it up, and was enjoying sketching some birds of prey as I work through ideas for a new painting.
Trying to balance chronic health stuff and my artistic plans. How are you all working through challenges today?

#artvsartist This year has been harder than expected, but I still found new joy in my art
Happy new year everyone

Personal work, the Dragon's Friend Inn. This was one of those "follow my pencil and see where it leads" drawings. A5

QRP with your sketch vs final artwork!

My Magician card, done for @78tarot.bsky.social for their Magical deck. I really stretched myself to get the symbolism and sense of excitement in this.

Some old fanart I'm still quite fond of. It was a process, learning how to use oils on a super-smooth panel, but I ended up happy with the results 🌿

I've never taken part in #PortfolioDay before, but I'm a landscape artist (traditional fine art) and I'm keen to pursue more illustration and fantasy art, which is where my heart lies.

Why is it that I've been working on several big paintings I've wanted to paint for a long time but it's this little guy I got the most enjoyment out of?

The cover of a children's book I illustrated in watercolour. This front cover is one of the few pieces of art I didn't need reference for, thanks to a lifetime of experience with bunnies 😆
It is a sweet story for very young kids.

An illustration I did just for myself and my inner child. My husband told me to paint something purely for myself. It's for my yet to be published fantasy novel, which has elves living in trees. It's a break from my more realistic style, an indulgence in whimsical watercolor childhood imaginings.
