Amazing, this is gonna be a game changer. Handling backfilling is one of the biggest hurdles when writing app views or authenticated feeds, imho

40-50k records per second.. is it consuming the full network?

A vibrant community of ATProto tinkerers and enthusiasts only makes the platform more appealing to bigger players, it’s not an either-or.

100% d’accord. On accuse la base de QS d’être “la gauche radicale” simplement parce qu’on refuse de transiger avec le racisme.

100% disagree. A fun, chaotic, slightly unhinged mix of apps and experiments isn’t a flaw, it’s what a healthy software ecosystem looks like.

(it worked well for twitter until twitter killled it)

1. Bluesky PBC makes a push to monetize the platform, triggering backlash
2. Users continually rediscover that everything they post on Bluesky is public
3. Frustration toward moderators remains
4. A major outage knocks the service offline for 12 hours
5. devs keep having fun with the protocol

great recap, ty.

I agree it is a big problem. Ordinary users will come to bsky (and other atproto apps) without fully understanding the privacy implications.

bsky.app/profile/serg...
For better or worse, facebook is the “social network” people use when they want to, for example, share pictures of their kid’s birthday party with the rest of the family, discuss about their health condition with a support group, etc. You can’t have that without robust privacy control.
November 16, 2025 at 5:56 PM
I get your point, but I feel privacy is a different issue here.

Nothing in ATProto prevents you from opening multiple accounts on different PDS if you dont want people to know the data in them belong to the same person

That’s like saying that the shift from mainframes to the personal computer was somehow a move towards centralization

ohhh, nice!

I guess they really have no choice, given that providing hosting to online death threaths may lead to criminal charges?
