We've been hosting some baby toads around the house too. At least three of them. They keep trying to come inside and I have to gently sweep them back out again or the dog will chase them.

Not gonna wade into politics on bsky cause I don't like pain, but this is a crap take. I live in fucking OKLAHOMA and we did Medicaid expansion (and weed!) by ballot initiative to get around our shitass legislature. If healthcare can pass in fucking ruby red Oklahoma, it will pass elsewhere
What annoys me here is that you know very well that universal healthcare and gun control are electoral poison in purple states, but you make this debate club level argument to score points in social media - when winning elections is so existentially important.

Today Melody used 3 buttons together for the first time! She was antsy about walk time and told me "walkies" "girl" [that's me] "I want things!" 😭 I've modeled 3 button phrases for her before but it was so exciting to see her use one on her own!

A purple and green nebula winds in a serpentine shape over a dark starfield. I think this one is my Facebook header. It came out pretty nice considering it's mostly just Difference Clouds and some brushed on color tinting A chonky blue and green nebula writhes on a barely-visible starfield. This one is my Bluesky banner and I wanted it to coordinate with my avatar and the site design, so it's a weird size and color. A planet orbiting the sun that I generated in Photoshop many years ago. I forget what site I used this for. I'm kind of proud of how it turned out given that I have very little artistic ability. This was all done through the clever use of textures and filters.

Reporting in from the dust storm. Thankfully no power outages or fires near me, but every light in the house has been flickering constantly for hours. #okwx

Moon, Venus and Mercury. Not bad for a phone snap while walking the dog Saturday night.
A night sky just on the edge of dusk. The sky shades from peach at the horizon through the faintest blue to steel gray at the top of frame. House roofs and bare tree branches illuminated by a streetlight in the foreground. In the sky hangs the dime sized disc of the waxing moon, barely past new. The bottom crescent is brightly illuminated, the rest of the Moon faintly so. Venus shines at about two o'clock from the Moon and Mercury is a pale dot at about six o'clock.

Not gonna lie, it's pretty good!
A sacrilege upon ramen presented in a cheery yellow bowl. It is the Scalzi Burrito of ramen. Two halves of a hard boiled egg float near the top of the bowl. A baked chicken thigh lurks at the bottom. The noodles are obviously thin spaghetti and float in a brownish, slightly opaque broth. Freeze dried vegetable toppings are scattered across the bowl.

One of the local Hyundai dealers was offering a stupid good rebate on the 2024 Ioniq 5s to get them off the lot so it felt like the time was right.

It's so weird having a new car after driving my Prius for over a decade...

This is the Car CD.

I burned it in 2006 to listen to on my drive to work. I never burned another because my next car had satellite radio. But I kept the Car CD just in case.

It has lived in the CD player of the 3 cars I've owned since 2006.

Today, I no longer own a car that can play the Car CD.
