I think GOP is giving him space so he can own 100% of the failure himself. They don't believe they can fight him or his base, but also know that the economic policy is a losing strategy.

P.s. I have no sympathy for the GOP

An absolute classic. My favorite Val Kilmer film.

We've got to have transparency from our food brands and corporations.

I agree that China wins by the war continuing, but they don't have to do anything to make it continue. Our distraction is their benefit. Russia's distraction is their benefit.

I'm for peace, but we have to start the conversations grounded in truth and defending the rights of sovereign nations.

P.s. I love having this conversation. We disagree on some issues and agree on others. There are no personal insults or outrage. We need more of these across America.

Yes, both parties could benefit from moving toward the center. Dems can't win against the MAGA consolidated movement without a moderate that's so likeable that they win over disaffected Republicans and win back males.
March 1, 2025 at 4:34 PM
Agree, which is why China sees no benefits to involvement with Russia / Ukraine. They'll benefit 100x more from America distancing itself from allies, stopping aid to developing countries (that history shows China will backfill), & US getting into a trade war with everyone. China's war is economic.
March 1, 2025 at 4:32 PM
I agree with that. The GOP is caught in the Trump stranglehold -- limiting oxygen to its brain. The Dems are so obsessed with Trump outrage that they're not thinking straight and putting together real leadership. Both parties are shells right now.

Chinese-Russian relations have been strained for a century. They fight over land, their very long shared border, and world dominance. China would love Russia to weaken and allow China to backfill Russian proxy nations with Chinese goods, access to natural resources, and economics.

He was elected and is President. It's not a comparison conversation to what could have been, it's a conversation we should be having about our expectations and qualifications for him now as a president. We should demand more from him and his administration. All leadership positions require growth.
March 1, 2025 at 4:20 PM
I can understand that, while disagreeing. I think standing for freedom from aggression and invasion is never 'bad money.' I think China has no interest in joining Russia. Weak Russia is good for China and right now they're benefiting from a weak America. They win without ever having to fire a shot.

I believe Trump is terrible for America, but we can't lose hope. An honest American president can restore U.S. checks and balances, trust with Allies, and leadership. But we can't wait until 2028 to make that happen.
March 1, 2025 at 4:12 PM
It's the cost of America so consistently getting its way with Allies. We want extra benefits, we pay through leadership and protection.

It's one thing to lose after doing all you can, it's another to help them lose. I think that's the outrage most people are feeling. If Ukraine loses, let's at least do all we can. This style of negotiation doesn't benefit Ukraine, Europe, or the U.S. -- only Russia.
March 1, 2025 at 3:58 PM
The U.S. economy is 6x the UK economy. Plus, the U.S. has the most to gain from a contained Russia outside of Ukraine.
March 1, 2025 at 3:17 PM
It was a setup to try and make an argument for backing Russia and making Ukraine look like war mongers. It's disgusting, evil, and dishonest!
February 28, 2025 at 7:20 PM
Let's unite around anyone who is against the constitutional, ethical, and moral crisis we are in with Trumpism. Let's end his reign!
February 20, 2025 at 2:57 PM
Plus, Democrats seem to still be fighting with each other and every faction they've ever disagreed with rather than building a coalition of compromise with agreeable parties who would rather have them in office.
February 20, 2025 at 2:55 PM
I'm no longer a Republican, but the Democrats have largely been so inept at confronting Trump and MAGA that it's left me without confidence in them either. I think a lot of Americans are politically homeless right now.

Will you run?

Wouldn't be surprised if our culture kept pushing towards more violence as entertainment. Authoritarians like to create cultures of fear through violent entertainment.
