I just realised that the #finnish word for crime (rikos) is probably related to the verb rikkoa (break). So a crime is the result of breaking something. And a criminal (rikollinen) is a breaker.

I have seen way more posts welcoming supposed #bluesky refugees to #mastodon, with an array of helpful tips and points about the two networks, than actual people from BlueSky dipping their toes.

We’re talking probably close to 100x more.

For some time I’ve considered that #aikido kokyunage is basically equivalent to Daito Ryu’s aikinage or other aiki techniques, but very often missing a key feature that makes it relevant. Most of the time kokyunage practise is deemed ukemi practise as you’re expected to just roll with it

@hikatamika I think the effects are much more limited here. On #bluesky (and other social platforms), one CEO can impact every user on the whole platform, whereas here the impact spreads to just one instance amongst thousands.

I just graded 1st dan in Aiki Toho Iai / #nishio Toho #iaido (an intricate and beautiful form of iaido that connects with #aikido principles). Directly to Iwakata-sensei.

Not my best performance in my view but sensei stated it was good and nice pace with no major complaints.

Today was the first day of a weekend-long #aikido seminar by #Iwakata-sensei (6th dan, student of #nishio) here in #Jyväskylä. Iwakata has lovely precise, but relaxed technique, whether body techniques or weapons. I highly recommend his practise.
