Having had a quiet 5 days birding in the Spurn area, news broke of a White- Throated Needletail further North. We dashed to Hornsea Mere hoping to find it there when it was then reported further North at Bempton cliffs. 35 minutes late and Bingo. What a cracking bird. A borrowed pic attached.

Go Andy. I don't know how you have the drive and energy. Must be on for a record year list. A bit miffed knowing the Sibe Thrush is less than a mile from our digs in Scalloway from 2 years ago.

With flocks of Glossy Ibis all around the Severnside Patch it was inevitable that another would drop in. This was the 2nd individual this month and the 4th record of the year so far.

An early evening dash to Pilning Wetland produced an excellent selection on the rear wader pool including a Little Stint, 15 Curlew Sandpipers, 11 Knot, a Golden Plover, 200+ Dunlin, 80 Ringed Plover, 100+ Redshank etc. hopefully something rarer this weekend.

A male Common Redstart has been hanging around in the same clump of coastal scrub at Severn Beach since first found on September 8th . Presumably it has delayed it's departure south due to the prolonged spell of wet and windy weather. The short video has the distinctive "hooweet" contact call.

Totally agree. Aravind got the best pic I've seen of yesterday's bird.

After all the seabird excitement at Severn Beach I had almost forgotten there were at least 13 Curlew Sandpipers and a Sanderling with Dunlin flock at New Passage this morning,

Blimey 40 years. The pic you used is of my other self found White rumped Sand at Severn Beach August 1995. We have now had 5 records here, another would be nice

A day of carwash rainfall and gusty winds but some hard core birders still managed to find a great selection of waders and sea birds. The weather forecast for the weekend and beyond could produce even more sea birds and maybe an American wader.... www.severnsidebirds.co.uk/page334.html

A juvenile bird Rosemary. They often associate and appear in the same places as Wheatears here on migration, both Spring and Autumn.

Definitely a Whinchat. Great bird and pic 👏
