Ken Dodd has always been the benchmark of comedy for me. I always find myself flinching in anticipation of a searing put down when I see his name in an article but, thankfully, that’s never happened. Thank you for putting me at my ease once again.

Brilliant. Now can I have my freedom back too, please?

Great to see him looking so well.

And still, the knuckle scrapers will vote for him.

I’ve never got him either.

Never ever ever ever trust a man in a double breasted blazer. It’s a maxim that has stood me in good stead all my adult life.

I’m off to enjoy the Christmas delights of Den Haag next week. I’ll give you a wave.

No shit, Sherlock.

I took the plunge and treated myself to to new speakers after your recent upgrade. I went down the Dali route and am absolutely delighted that you gave me the dig in the ribs I needed. Good luck with the amp. Time for a new one? Christmas present to yourself??

Alf Garnett? Is he really so thick that he doesn’t understand the character and the intended message of the show?

A true gentleman. He invited me to visit him at his studio in Nashville some years ago but our diaries didn’t match up and he was in Sweden with the Blues Brothers Band when I was in town. I never did get to meet him but his kindness to a complete stranger has stayed with me.

Genius.

Will they take me, please?

I saw Ted Nugent many many years ago. Please don’t judge me. I was young and foolish! It was the loudest gig I’ve ever been too. And I saw Motörhead in the same venue.

There’s little ‘comedy’ on the radio that makes me laugh out loud. Each to their own, of course. This is genuinely funny.

This article stood out in the paper today for me. I am definitely putting this on my list of places to visit next year.

I’m constantly mystified by how these numbskulls get to be so rich.

I knew nothing of Mr Bailey until I heard about him via ‘Great Lives’ on R4. He sounds like a fascinating character and I really must read this biography.

Brilliant. Well done to the Council.

A Constable painting, but alive.
