It's difficult to design something that can actually leave the planet's atmosphere without being jerked off course, and there's nowhere nearby to go to, afterwards.

Gravity is inconsistent, due to the fairly random migration patterns of celestial bodies to and from there! There's seasonal TRENDS in the gravity being higher or lower, but if you're looking for the specifics required in most rocket science? Egh.
