There is the idea of funding people not projects. HHMI does this. www.hhmi.org/programs/inv...
Investigator Program | HHMI

Right now, I am focusing smaller on my family, faith community, academic department, students, town because that keeps me grounded and sane. Others may have more bandwidth and that is great. The weight is not all on my shoulders & needs to be spread around. And a lot happens at the community level!

Haha well mine would basically be oriented around climate. I cannot live in a place with consistent temps over 90F. Blacksburg is already too hot in summer!

Okay! I know that we get a lot of transfer students who do well in the major, if you're able to take some of the gen ed and math classes at a community college.

Friction and terrain probably not impt here. I'd need to see a low-level wind field to see if it's anywhere near the IC/OC interface.. seems too far away. In the animation, it seems to align with existing PRB over time. Regardless, convection would be enhanced on the DS side & CAPE is higher DS too.

Thanks! This is fascinating, seeing how that outer MCS may have been aligned with the low-level confluence associated with principal rain band. It gets more continuous with the PRB over time, definitely suggesting that the feature was enhanced in that downshear side too.

Thanks for tagging me @justinfleenor.bsky.social! Interesting to see a Matthew-like blob here. I didn't get a chance to stare at satellite for Erin to see how long it persisted. I'm not seeing it in recent imagery, so it looks like it was pretty short-lived.

This is an ensemble forecast. Ensembles generally have skill out to 10-14 days. Looking at multiple models and consistency run to run is important for gauging confidence at these lead times. But I think it’s okay to post a 10-day ensemble forecast with some added context.
